    It’s a joking reference to the Zager and Evans song “In the year 2525”. This is a late 60s apocolyptic rock single. It begins “in the year 2525 if Man is still alive”. Although the song lyrics do extend further into the future (year 9595). A fun little ditty.

    Just being picky, but if there’s a gamma ray burst from a planet’s primary star that planet (and probably at least their local part of the Galaxy) has bigger problems than just a gamma ray burst.

    Kindle edition is available (at least on October 31 2015) but I have not verified its ebook conversion quality or if it matches the print edition contents.     Off topic but two quick comments regarding parent: (1) I agree with the sentiment regarding date formats but, (2) I don’t see any way 11.22.63 can be misinterpreted as long as you know it’s some combination of year, month, and day in the last 100 years (based on assumption of cars, clothing, and hair styles).
