I like the idea, but not as a mandate. Forcing it to be hilarious loses the appeal of the “just go have fun” mindset. Mandatory fun isn’t fun.

7 on 7 or 9 on 9 flag football is the way to go. No helmets, because that will get players free publicity, which is good for them. Any players can play any position for the sake of having a good time. Less like regular football, more a celebration of the players themselves. Just make it a bunch of football greats

You know, I’m tired of hearing about how bad the pro bowl is, how they bring the worst broadcast team, low effort, minimum interest for a game that nobody seems to care about—including the players and everyone involved in any way.

If the Saints get the penalty and win, though, the whole “it’s hard to criticize his decision” take goes out the window. I think you have to scrutinize the plan as if that penalty gets called. Hard to give “the plan” credit for something that shouldn’t have happened.

I think any mistakes about football can be forgiven today, given how ultimately depressing the outcomes were for so many.

Gotta think it’s MLB players. The NFL has an aversion to paying running backs because so much of it relies on good lines and you can do a lot with cheaper players (look at the production/cost ratio of the Patriots). The MLB seems like they’re maximizing profit for all positions, even those that can’t be made up for

An injury does seem the more likely culprit than some “I was playing like butt today” explanation when he wasn’t being featured from the get-go. Wouldn’t you have to wait at least a quarter or two to decide to pull the plug? And while you say it’s hard to criticize McVay’s plan, uh...can’t we?

By this standard, every time a team is called for a holding penalty (which is absolutely intentional, it happens on most plays in the NFL), they are “cheating”. Get outta here with this weak-ass definition.

It wasn’t the “same drive”. Tom Brady threw an interception on the next play (off of Edelman’s tip), and the Chiefs scored a touchdown a few plays later.

Another of the things that he doesn’t get credit for in the booth is his historical knowledge. The Patriots were running some old-school looks that aren’t coached today, and Romo is able to identify the formation, and note that it hasn’t been used for a long time.

Gotta put the emPHAsis on the right sylLABle.

Tony Romo was never as great as the biggest Cowboy fans thought him to be, but he was always better than people outside Dallas gave him credit for. When we talk about good/great QBs, that divide should be called the Romo Gulch. He straddled that line like nobody’s business.

I’ll take consistency over accuracy every day of the week. Holding could be called on damn near every play if you’re being 100% “accurate”. That’d be a boring-ass game. Consistency, though, means the game is “fair”, even if it’s not 1:1 with the rulebook. If coaches know how you’ll call it, they’ll pass it onto

Yeah I think they actually nailed those calls. Edelman has control and the ball happened to hit the ground. Hogan was getting control of the ball as the ball hit the ground, but he hadn’t gotten it yet.

The problem with officiating is neither trying to get it 100% correct under the rulebook nor swallowing the whistle. It’s the inexcusable lack of consistency. As a Patriots fan (yes, yes, I have no right to complain, ever), it was maddening watching Gronk being ridden down the field without DPI, only to see the Chiefs

This game was so bad I actively reached out to a former friend whom I have avoided for years just to check if he was okay after the Saints having devastating games in back to back seasons.

Revisiting this after the end of the game: yeah, literally down to the last drive, there was whining to the refs about some nonsense or other. Only when the Pats assume the victory formation (which they literally could have started using at halftime) was there a possession without any complaint to the refs.

You know, between the dozens of times that it was mentioned that this is the oldest quarterback duo in the Super Bowl era, and seeing what happened after the plays, it finally dawned on me. This isn’t a football game. This is a group seminar in maximizing your efficiency when saying “I demand to speak to your

Is this one of those “nobody’s really the bad guy” situations? I mean, Tom Brady doesn’t seem to be trying to say anything more controversial than “I’m really try to be aware of contact and to sense it before it happens”. Which...meh? He’s a quarterback, avoiding contact is good.

Honestly, this is one of those things where the only wrong answer is being in any way emotionally connected to your opinion. Same as Brady/Manning. Sure, you can have an opinion about who is better, but at the end of the day, there’s no pure “right” way to compare them.
