I was a bit confused what backing up had to do with organising, but I caught up when it came to creating albums to organise. I’m an iPhone / iCloud user (cloud storage subscription too) but I have to say Apple’s photo organisation is just not nearly as friendly and usable as Google’s. I still find myself actually

Hope that caption photo bill is a fictitious one... here I pay the equivalent of $31 for a 15 to 20-minute GP doctor consultation, and about $137 for a longer initial consultation with a specialist (looking at bills I got now in 2021).

I’m not so sure.... been using the same Aeropress now probably for at least 6 to 7 years with a permanent stainless steel filter in it (so zero paper filters to buy or dispose of). I carried it to work in my bag (with aportable grinder that fitted inside the Aeropress), on hikes, and use it at home. I grind my beans

Which is why I long ago was using Authy instead... Google was just way behind...

Glad Piwigo was mentioned. I’ve been self-hosting my own Piwigo site since Flickr changed their terms. Piwigo has plenty of extra functionality for location, faces, and much more. Bonus is the same hosting also carries my Drupal site, Hubzilla social site Webtrees family tree.

Is it worse than Google did with recording all our WiFi router data from homes across the world? No tech company has been innocent of data collection (to improve services and personalise them for you) no matter whether China or the USA (Facebook comes to mind too). I have the most faith in privacy in the EU - maybe we

I can see another “wall” may have to be built ;-) Seems walls are needed for Northwards migrations in the Americas.

Not sure what research went into this but ZoHo is not fully open source. The most popular free fully open source (and can be self-hosted) VC is Jitsi. It really deserved to be in this list. No crippleware limitations.

Is this God’s will, or is God really powerless to stop this abuse of the innocent? I don’t hear that debate raging in religious circles. An all powerful; and all-knowing God surely has to have done something about this - these crimes are essentially committed by His representatives. It confuses me and is probably

Spent two weeks deleting over 10,500 of my photos off Flickr and now hosting them myself using free Piwigo photo album software on my own hosting service.

Also don’t see any link. And it is the Preferences menu in Firefox, not Settings menu....

The site’s Captcha code is broken so we can’t register

I’ll second using Citymapper. I used it successfully to find out what stations to use on the Metro underground (some of the station names are quite similar). I just used my credit card to buy tickets at the station.

Batteries just aren’t an issue any longer with Kindles. I read every night before I go to sleep for an hour (in the dark with the Kindle Paperwhite backlight on - with a paperback I’d have to have the bedside light on which would irritate my wife who si sleeping) and I charge it after a month’s use or more. I love the

We broke the mould on our wedding. Had a private garden wedding ceremony with only immediate 5 or 6 family present, then we hosted a supper at a restaurant with an only slightly bigger group of real personal friends (No gifts required, and one friend was the photographer), and blew what we had saved on not having a

And for Linux there is a very powerful free SMART analysis tool called GSmartControl. The command line version will allow you to also schedule unattended short or long SMART tests.

Yes I also switched to safety razors about 4 to 5 months back and all my ingrown hairs have gone (I’ve suffered for many years with this). I believed all the Gillette advertising about why I needed 5 blades etc, and prevented me from looking at alternative ways to shave. I’m saving a mint of money on blades now and my

Not sure why they caution on eggs as that myth has been put to rest in the last year or two (http://authoritynutrition.com/how-many-eggs-…). I think the cereal manufacturers started that story years back. Anything with sugar for me is good so I avoid any of those foods that come with sugar included (many cereals). For

I understand the issue about adding sugar, sauces, etc to whichever one you are eating, but how does plain potato vs sweet potato go in comparison? I also understood that the orange sweet potato may be a bit better than the white skinned one (in terms of carbs)?

I was wondering about Xylitol which is not mentioned, and used quite widely as well in the food industry? I’ve anyway ditched all added sugar or sweeteners for the last two years, including cutting all fizzy drinks and fruit juices. Happy to say I have lost 14kg and not been off sick in the last year at all.
