Or simply by taxing the carbon emissions per mile for a new vehicle. CO2= fuel economy. Ignoring the footprint or the ‘light truck’ moniker. Chevy Spark and Tahoe in the same class.

Probably yes.

For Honda to be successful in Europe they have to:

Add $10/year on the registration costs of a car, and the whole system should easily pay for itself. Or, as government ask a small fee from the shops so they can use the system.

I’m not a fan of the looks of the Renault either, but you can’t argue with the objective qualities of the car.

In PA you pay a licensed private repair shop to do the inspection. In theory it should be more thorough and some shops do a fantastic job. But here is where we get to people. People love to cheat. So you get shops that will overlook things and take the money or shops that will do favors. In theory they put themselves

Depends on your definition of ‘well’. Much better than the Honda, most definitely. The Peugeot and Opel have been introduced in 2020 (calendar year), so finding statistics on those is relatively hard. Especially on the Opel, which (iirc) was introduced the latest

The most popular FCA vehicle in Europe is obviously the Fiat 500. The small one. They sell about 2 hellcats a year.

Same thing in my German suburb...

Size is a factor when it cannot fit people in the back seat, or cannot fit enough groceries in the trunk. Especially if the similar priced competition is better in this aspect.

But when you can get a larger EV with 50% more range for less money, you will not get the Honda. Especially if it’s from a manufacturer that has a much larger market presence than bottom feeder (in Europe) Honda.

The Honda E does not sell as it’s an inferior offering. You can get a bigger EV with 50% more range for the same (or less!) money. And where Honda is a niche manufacturer in Europe, its competitors are not. So, it totally makes sense that it has flopped.

I still don’t get why he doesn’t understand the price conversion. The German price starts below $50k, and always includes 19% sales tax. I believe the US is the only country to show consumer prices excluding tax.

I expect they’ll have one soon. Globally. Simply because the demand is there. If they will offer it in the US I don’t know. Might even depend on what happens today.

The US does not exist in a vacuum. Ford needs an electric Focus in other markets. So, Ford will develop one. To not do so would be shooting themselves in the foot. The US is merely lagging behind.

There too the majority didn’t vote for the man. However, intimidation and dirty tricks (voter suppression) gets you a long way.

I think it’s probably best for Americans abroad to pretend they are still in the US, but they are now a person of color/minority. That way, when these ‘stops’ happen, it will be something you just expect.

Those are not ‘the Dutch’ though. He encountered one or a few overly enthusiastic police officers. Rotten apples, if you will.

GM in 1965 could have adopted cleaner 1965 tech, and could have spent more on research.

Peugeot builds some crossovers in some of the segments that Americans like. They’re certainly different enough to stand out and they are decent enough cars.
