I would argue it ended with the XM. Maybe with the Xantia. You are correct though, the ZX is absolutely meh.

In the US? Probably. I’m not from the US though, so I don’t have the cultural baggage to lust after Mustangs. I have driven multiple BXs, so I do know what I’m talking about. Weighs less than a ton, that suspension, given the right drive train properly quick for the era, a blast to drive quick, not rust prone,

Americans buy lots of turds, but only with a Toyota badge.

The BX was bigger than a Golf but smaller than a Passat, but priced like the Golf. It was halfway between the C and D segment.

I'll certainly take a BX 16v or Sport over that Mustang though.

Well, to be fair, a big part of the legislation was not testing cars properly. If diesels actually stayed within the emission limits they were said to adhere to by the manufacturers, it would not be that bad. Yet, all manufacturers bent the rules and some (we all know who) outright cheated to be able to emit more than

just a few blocks of high rises and skyscrapers

Exactly, like the article mentioned.

I do hope we finally get to defeat Charlie, as this war has been going on for a while.

The point was that their sabotage stayed hidden. If you make it too obvious, you get caught and you will get caught soon. This is not just bad for yourself, it’s also bad for your cause. Which makes no sense.

Some people are masochists. Work impossible hours, almost no paid holiday, almost no social safety net, shitty education system and shitty health care situation yet mocking those who have made a better society for themselves.

I always cringe when Americans make fun of other countries. I blamed it on their lack of perspective. They don’t realize how relatively shitty they have it, assuming they are middle class or below.

Have i driven a MR car? Yes. High power and MR (or RR), no.

I certainly agree. If BMW is the only one doing this, it will cost them more in lost customers than they will make in subscriptions. However, when many more manufacturers will do something similar, people will accept it. They might hold their nose doing so, but they will accept it.

Why would it be wrong to prefer engagement and character in something new? After all, the Corvette isn’t just an appliance you buy with your brain, it’s a fun toy.

* Of all the cars I (36) have owned, only 2 were automatics. They were also the 2 cars I’ve driven the fewest miles in, and for good reason. I currently own 3 cars, all manual.

I'm sure you tried everything already, but have you considered a (large) coupe? It will have larger doors and B pillars that are a lot further back. Headroom might be an issue though

Why? Because they can. It's a steady and safe form of income that requires close to zero investments.

That you have to overpay for Apple stuff is a given. What surprises me is that BMW doesn’t even offer the Android version, even though the Android market share is way larger than the iOS market share.

You need the right tool for the job. Highway or track with long straights? Very powerful and capable bespoke sports car. Twisty narrow B public road? Something smaller and less capable with less weight.
