Raph is as much of a historic motorsports scholar as I’ve ever known, and has conversed with the likes of O’Neil and Buffum on the history of rally in America, so he knows. Also, I think you missed the point of the article. He’s not saying we never rallied muscle cars, he’s saying Sweden still rallies muscle cars

Missed it? He wrote it

Fair. He destroyed everyone but Lappi

It brings in over a quarter million spectators, 5,000 volunteer courseworkers, 1,000 drivers/co-drivers, and 15,000 crew members. Even spread out that’s pretty massive.

Too much ambiguity to give it to either of them based on how Spain went down. Ogier had (second) worst road position for the day 1 gravel stages while Loeb had the best. Plus Loeb could go full “trees or trophies” mode while Ogier had to drive with championship points in mind.

I think the definitive Ogier moment came at the very end. Ignoring the short spectator super special stages Ogier’s best stage result all weekend was third and he only set three top five stage times in the first 19 proper stages (by contrast he was 8th or worse on 10 stages). Because he basically just had to keep it

Social media “fine” and actual fine are often two very different things, and spinal injuries are never a small deal. Best case she has months of recovery ahead of her.

Doubtful. I’m mostly on the rally side of things these days

Now playing

Molly is a woman and a hell of a racer. She won the national title in 2016.

Molly herself said there was a stump. So congratulations on being wrong. Also enjoy your imminent banning, Roberto.

See my response to PatBateman

Class 7 is fiberglass body on tube frame chassis.

One of these days we need to meet up so I can buy you a beer, my friend.

Depends on your definition of “open to traffic.” Some (maybe most) people hear “open to traffic” and think it means people are allowed to drive the roads like normal. People are not allowed to drive like normal, but can’t always be stopped. That’s what I was trying to say.

That was supposed to be “policia.” Thanks, autocorrect

“Open to local traffic” is a bit of a confusing misnomer. Traffic is not supposed to be on the course, you can’t just go out and drive the race roads like normal (aside from the highway sections, where race vehicles are required to obey the speed limit and all traffic laws). If policies/federales catch a vehicle like

So few compete?! There's over 350 vehicles each year!

I watched Molly’s interview on WRC Live last night, apparently the bale wasn’t there for the tree but for a stump in front of the tree. Stumps are extra nasty because of how they focus the impact into an extremely small area. My friend ran into a stump head on at LSPR in 2016 at about 50 or 60 mph, the impact buckled

Whatever the trick is it isn’t editing, this was performed in front of a live audience.
