Rally America hasn’t used Historic in a good decade either. It’ll be open class for sure in either sanctioning body

Yes, but he’d previously said “some events.” There was no telling which ones he’d show up at
It’s all about that short rear deck
318ti, I can see it
I love that he’s announcing this the week of Oregon Trail Rally.
These people aren’t just barking up the wrong tree, they’re barking up a tree with a hungry leopard in it.
I love that this guy took a hatchback from the junkyard and an “I’m gonna send it” attitude and did a more perfect roll than professional companies that have sunk 5 figures, a prepped car, precisely designed takeoff and landing ramps, and a team of mathematicians and stunt coordinators into similar stunts
The guy at 52 seconds in on this one says ‘old me pint, guvnor.
I see what you’re saying
Cuts are to the inside of the corner, not the outside
An “off” is a crash, this is what’s known as a “moment”
He did hit the back of that silver Volkswagen, he just didn’t stop
Under braking F1 car brakes heat up to as much as 1200°C (2,200°F). Combine the heat with the absence of airflow due to the car no longer moving and there’s typically a little smoke. It’s not a sign of a problem and isn’t a danger to anyone so long as they don’t touch the brakes.
F1 isn’t my primary form of motorsport, so I might get something wrong here, but I’ll do my best. It used to be that someone would stand in front of the car with a paddle that said stop on one side and go on the other. This year to help make pit stops a few tenths of a second faster (which is insane because pit stops…
I know that clip. That one’s beyond just “not for the faint of heart” and firmly in “seriously, don’t click” terrritory
I’ve already started making travel plans. Went to the Canadian round last year and it was awesome. Looking forward to doing both this time!
For anyone bored/curious, here’s the 50 cars they had to boost. (Note, there are variations of this list as it apparently changed during production)
They might get them as shells now (I’ll be sure to ask), but I know they at least used to get them as fully functional cars (for proof of this there’s a build time lapse video on YouTube). As for registering the car just before the event and relying on the grace period, that would only work for the first event the car…
Still doable if it’s new, Vermont Sportscar gets their cars new from the factory with virtually zero miles on them. And those are the most heavily modified rally cars in the country
In the US the rally rules still require the cars to have functioning cats, so a number of them can still pass emissions (particularly the more stock ones). The cars that can’t are typically either registered in states that don’t require emissions testing or the owner just doesn’t take it to be inspected since the only…
