I have to disagree with you about Hirvonen being an “average” driver. As a stat man I feel confident in saying that he was one of the best ever to grace the championship but had the misfortune of competing at the same time as the greatest ever, resulting in Mikko being eclipsed. By the numbers, if the two Sebs had

How are you not in Fantasy WRC with us?

It’s still early days, but I think there’s at least three who can consistently rival Ogier. Neuville has unquestionably been the fastest driver at every event so far, and Tanak and Latvala are both showing strong evidence they can match/beat Ogier as well. Can’t really be certain until we’ve seen a tarmac rally and a

Hello, new friend!

Also in Texas you can’t do this

I do agree with your #5. Chile had an excellent flag

But living in Texas means not being able to do this

That’s good duck

The hatch was the one part that didn’t leak

I knew. She didn’t.

Dude, it’s a rally car. The dirt, rocks, and branches beat up the paint so bad it needs to be repainted or wrapped every couple years anyway. Hell, this one had just hit a tree and was sporting a replacement rear quarter that was 60% bondo. A car wash isn’t a big deal by comparison.

I have been accused of some things here, and I just want to set the record straight.

The WRC cars do still top out around 200 kph. That said, acceleration vs speed certainly could produce interesting results.

To be fair they’re not saying the cars are too fast, they’re saying the roads are too fast

Wut

It’s the same logic that brought about things like the Bus Stop at Watkins Glen or the chicanes on the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans. Yes, going 100+ down a straight is safer than going 60 in a corner, but the straight can’t last forever and like it or not it is safer to throw in a bus stop and get to that inevitable

That was certainly part of the problem, but not all of it. Look at Henri Toivonen’s accident, which had nothing to do with spectators. Drivers also said then that mentally and physically they had to work hard to be able to keep up with the way the cars covered ground, which is a sentiment I’ve heard at least one

Hi, professional rally co-driver here. It’s true that we would secure the hood so it can’t flip up, but (and here’s the important bit) only after completing the stage. The clock is our god, and getting out to secure the hood during the stage would cost way too much time. Louise damaged her front end in the same stage
