Man, this hurts. THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS was the first R-rated movie I was allowed to see as a kid, and what I get out of it has changed so much rewatching it through the years. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I don't think it would be remotely the same movie without Demme at the helm. Rest in power.
Generally worse, I think. Although Nielsen is a notable exception.

The fact that "Live! The Silver Wilburys" did not make the list and has not even been mentioned in the comments is a crime and a tragedy.

Perhaps nostalgia goggles have made me believe that B movie schlock from my youth was somehow more honest or pure, but I have grown so weary of these contemporary flicks that desperately grab at a cult following.
