It turns out the story wasn’t about not eating Wendy’s. It was about a change in diet. The new headline was the correct one. That they write these clickbait headlines is what got them in this mess. Given that they write like a cheap tabloid, it shouldn’t be surprising that they would also coddle sponsors.

The real lesson here is that ESPN should dump the clickbait and gossip headlines/stories and actually act like sports journalists. Neither the Wendy’s headline nor the “look what the famous football player tweeted” story would have existed if that were the case.
