@Nayrlladnar: I was considering seeing the Truck series when I was in the US in April - but my schedule was too tight.

Two pairs of fresh underpants required.

@rigidjunkie: Jesus that is so prejudiced and narrow minded it beggars belief.

Never underestimate the perseverance of an idiot.

Damn, I was trying to add a picture of my Boxster with a huge pair of speakers strapped on the back, but the internets is not working and now the effect is lost because trying to describe it is just not the same.

I never have any problem with the luggage space in my Boxster.....

Doing a deal with Ecclestone is like doing a deal with Darth Vader - nothing is what it seems and you're guaranteed a worse bargain than you signed on for.

@crankyshaft: I can assure you Ecclestone is many, many things. But an idiot is certainly not one of them.

"We've added about 700lbs to the chassis alone"

It's a highly debatable point as to whether the 916 was "set the blueprint for the modern superbike" - arguably the 1984 Kawasaki GPZ 900 R did that - with it's modern liquid cooler 16 valve motor low in a narrow frame and ability to hit 150mph off the showroom floor.

@86LX5.0: And that old bus would have you off if you even looked at it funny, let alone be clumsy with the throttle.

@powermatic: Agreed, it's probably the zenith of the classic Marlboro McLaren look.

@powermatic: Gordon Murray was soconvinced there was merit in the idea, he tried it again with McLaren Honda in 1988 with the MP4/4.

"Is this your idea of fun, Mav?"

Here in the UK it's three points on your licence (you can accumulate 12 before you're banned) and a £60 ($90) fine for using a mobile phone in any capacity whilst driving. Sadly it's not enough of a deterrent and difficult to enforce.

@Jack Baruth: He called himself "professionally tall". He was six feet seven inches in his bare feet.

I hereby order everyone who frequents this site to read every piece they can find by possibly the finest motoring writer to ever live, Russell Bulgin.

Addendum: I've just watched the video and it looks like it was all set in San Francisco (oddly where I spent a week of my two in the US - yes I did do a Bullitt tour).

I recently put nearly 3000 miles on a rental 2010 V6. While in every objective measure the power train was utterly and completely ghastly, the car itself had heart and attitude by the bucket load.
