What is this, amateur hour? Once again I step unto the breach to single handedly uphold the standards around here....

There is no such thing as "too much eyeliner".

There is a reason the E-Type was cheap when new and are expensive now. They were built right down to a price with the cheapest steel they could drag out of Sheffield.

@solracer: Fair point well made - I've alway wanted one of those. Unfortunately the first generation ones are now all ratty shitboxes with ten careful owners.

Marketers and accountants have always held sway at GM - but during their halcyon years they had the product to back it up. With each division having it's own engineering department coupled with one of the most awesome marketing machines ever known to man, it's no surprise they had the fifties and sixties stitched up.

For those who missed it first time around, here is a publicity shot of the younglings looking very fetching in their matching branded leather jackets...

@Rupunzell: Actually the UK produces around 1.5 million cars annually, placing it around number 10 in the world, on a par with somewhere like Canada, and better than Italy.

@Jono: Johnny Herbert has more talent in his cock than the other three put together. 4th first time out in a GP car, Brazilian GP 1989. He could still barely walk after his horrifc 1988 F3000 smash that left his feet literally hanging off.

No leather, restraints, lubricants, rubber or airbags does make for a decontented and boring ride.

@cgarison: Jason Alexander playing the writer who created George Costanza, Larry David, who based the Costanza character on himself?

@LionZoo: I couldn't toss a government bail out bond into the air around here without it landing on a 911, Gallardo or R8. Seriously. Ferraris, not so much, which leads me to believe they have not reached everyday utility yet.

@LionZoo: I live next to Canary Wharf, London's second financial centre. Ergo, it is only a matter of minutes before I see some newly moneyed banker in one. At that exact moment my point will have been proved... :)

Ok. You fellas on the other side of the pond need to help me out here. Wal Mart I understand. Ghetto customisation, well I don't understand but I see plenty of it on the internet (so it must be true). Are these two all American institutions inextricably linked?

I'm not sure what depresses me more. The 911 or the inarticulate oaf who thinks belching is somehow appropriate behaviour. Sigh.

Someone has been watching too many Gran Turismo intro sequences. Sigh.

@LionZoo: Au Contraire, mon transatlatique ami, the Japanese produce fine consumer electronics (I own plenty) sublime motorcycles (I own one) and worryingly good robots (as soon as they productionise Asimo I'll have one of those too).

@SS427: When Honda proudly revealed the NSX one wag apparently said "yes, very nice, but's it's not a Ferrari, is it?". The Honda engineers just did not understand.

@bzr: "Where would you like to go today?" indeed.
