Bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 was not legal and was done without any mandate by UN, simply an illegal attack. There were false stories of billions of murdered ethnic Albanian citizens of Serbia who made armed rebellion against their gouvernement, killing policemen and soldiers of Yugoslav army.
First of all,you are wrong on Serbia;international tribunal for war crimes on territory of ex Yugoslavia, recognised by UN and based in Netherlands, exonerated Serbia,of any guilt in connection with massacre commited un neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina by Bosnian citizens on other Bosnian citizens.
I am as frightened as you watching dumb bombs beeing released over Syria, as US airplanes were doing the same (but also”smart”bombs which often missed”by accident”) over my own country.Probably I condemn this approach more then you.
Unlike you most probably, I was in Grozny. And you know what?It is a modern city and people live in peace now with each other and authorities. It is easy to say now”one could have done it better”...but there Russian approach actually worked better then US in Iraq &Afganistan &Lybia &Syria
You see, this is exactly what many people want them to do-destroy the rebels who started the nightmare in Syria in the first place supported by some Western intelligence services and Saudi Arabia-Qatar-Turkey.
Dear Tyler, there is one crucial error in this article:
I think Obama is right, except for Lybian war;after all, isn’t Iraq and Afghanistan enough to prove what is the resuilt of spending billions $ in these foreign places which are not really dangerous for US?
It is also risky, and disregarding for human life, but then,in Eastern Europe it is typical that state doesn’t care about their own citizens, not some Syrians.
Interesting book!During Nato air strikes in Serbia (which i witnessed as a civilian in the ground) I was confused: in the one hand,i saw incredibly precise strikes, like, shooting exact window if exact minister in Yugoslav gouverment(which was,of course, not there but in nuclear attack proof shelter), or incredibly…
I couldn’t agree more about POW; this is exactly example why war’s should be avoided at all costs; things go beyond control of anyone.
This comparison is an invention of western diplomats out of their lack of power to do anything.
Actually, I lived on the west for many years,so I can compare much better then you, or Russian friends.
Maybe that evidence was visible to you, certainly Nato and Ukrainians did not notice it so the operation of Russian armed force was succesful, and it is only thing that matters.
Indeed, after attacking - with more or less good reason Afghanistan, they attacked Iraq based on false information.
No,I was not at all referring to that event in 1995, but Kosovo attack on Yugoslavia in 1999.
This is, after it failed.
OK,how do you explain that US without ANY what-so-ever threat to its security by Yugoslavia, bombed Serbia, and then proclaimed a part of its historical territory since 11th century with 450 monasteries “independent state”?
No,Russia was deliberately destroying “no-fly zone” which Turkey created inside Syria, along its border,as training and resupply place for terrorists sponsored by Turkey.
Communism was expression of people`s insatisfaction with Autocratic or capitalists ideologies. Many people lived for this idea, and died fighting for it with the same feeling as Martyrdom of early Christians.
