Fair point...I guess China really needs to decide if they want to avoid the possibility of being fired upon (by using a PLAN warship) or if they want to pretend to have plausible deniability (by using a “civilian” fishing boat).

Now playing

The Soviets did it back in the 80s, and we didn’t come to blows then either. And that was even less ambiguous in terms of whether the USN vessel was supposed to be there:

I still do, for a few reasons:

I don’t expect China to sit around and watch. I fully expect a barrage of radio calls (like what they did to the Navy P-8 a while ago) along with some ramming by fishing boats and maybe even PLAN warships.

Is there an equivalent to this regarding kendo?

One eyewitness said that she saw the pilot deliberately avoiding populated areas as they went down, so I’m guessing it was a “good of the many outweigh the needs of the few” situation. Go down with the ship so the airframe doesn’t go in an unpredicted direction, even if it was gliding.

Yes, my $66/month is for everything- unlimited voice and text + data. I’ll definitely have to look into the unsubsidized plan, though because it sounds like they’re making free money off of me.

Ouch! I stand corrected then, thanks for the clarification!

As much as a $20 price hike sucks, it’s still better than their loyalty plan- I have a personal line that’s capped at 3GB/month, unlimited text, off-contract, that’s $66/month- and that’s WITH a partner discount.

One question I haven’t been able to find a concrete answer on:

I’m trying to cancel my Prime membership and it doesn’t give me the option to “end now”, since my sub runs out next Wednesday. So it doesn’t look like I can get the $67 deal for myself.

Fascinating. Any background on what’s going on in this picture? It looks like a Seawolf-class, but I can’t tell.

I mean a close-up picture, actually. But thanks for the help anyway!

A Luneberg lens (sp)? I brought this same question up in the comments of the original thread there you shared the initial AF announcement of the Raptor’s deployment to eastern Europe and someone mentioned that they use this, but all my searches on Google didn’t lead me anywhere.

I don’t even play GTA V, but the string of recent TV-show remakes is absolutely killing it.

Interesting development.

I don’t mean this in a smug way at all, but the fact that ALL of these were out when I was a kid makes me feel both old and dated, and awesome because I was fortunate enough to live in a time when the games coming out are now considered classics.

Well it turns out that the availability of Google Fiber in Austin is pretty limited, and nowhere outside of the city itself. With the high rent prices we saw in Austin city, that pushed us out into the suburbs and—surprise surprise!—into the arms of TWC.

Ten years? That has to be some kind of world record, because wow...

Beautiful work, thanks for sharing it (even if it’s been around for a while!).
