Not even remotely how that works. Capital gains kicks in when you sell an asset, not when you buy or receive it. And Canada has an exemption on cap gains for your primary residence anyways. So as long as whoever wins it decides to actually live there most of the year, they’re in the clear.

Agreed. It is a matter of finding the 5 grand. :) I am not made of money and have other things like food, mortgage, HVAC, etc that come in line first.

At the current time, I would need a major upgrade the electrical in my house to charge at home. House was built in the 60s with that level of usage and no outside plugs.
