Top to bottom is oldest to newest within threads, which means it’s sorted by “old” on all other commenting systems, not “new.”

Just plain old not true. I’ve made comments that immediately disappear when I refresh the page, because they have not been starred or replied to. So yes, maybe my new comment was at the top for a second, but it’s disingenuous to say comments are sorted by “new”

I’m not even sure how live threads would ideally work on here. Without being able to sort by “new” everything after 100 comments is just shouting into the void.

Because you have to click “Read More” or “see More” or whatever to even see conversations you want to comment on. As much as Disqus had problems, you were at least able to scroll down and see comments you might want to respond to. Kinja gives you, like, one comment plus its replies. So, I’m completely disheartened about the decline of the commentary on this site. Especially after the dearth of participants last night. No amount of Kinda updating will fix the AV Club.
