Most people? In terms of violence and sexual assault, it seems to be almost entirely men. I actually think we need better education for young men about consent and keeping themselves out of situations where they might do something they regret. Many colleges do this now, but maybe high school is a better place to start.
Yeah. Movie reviews come out before the movie so people can decide what they want to go see. A late review is a missed publicity opportunity, and studios pay millions for publicity. Obviously the AV Club is just one outlet, but you can’t pretend they didn’t take a stance (and help publicize the issue as well).
“Prominant” lol
Your name and your comment are both deeply ironic.
“didn’t do anything but draw attention to the issue”
Aaand whoosh, the whole point goes over your head.
Yes they did tho
Spacey’s misdeeds are 30 years ago, and he certainly had Hollywood cred and goodwill just like Hoffman. Polanksi’s films and Allen’s still get distribution in the US. Kelly still *has* a career, which is the point.
Question time! Why do you think Hollywood hasn’t severed all creative and commercial ties with Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Dustin Hoffman, and R. Kelly? What do you think is the difference between their cases and Spacey’s? I have a theory!
I’ve been listening to Looser Futurism by E1sbar all week. Beautiful stuff. Catchy and ethereal with smoky vocals. https://m.soundcloud.com/e1sbar/sets/looser-futurism-1
Yes that’s exactly what I meant. I think of Love as a musician first and foremost (and a good one). It always just surprises me when I see how easily she transitioned into acting.
Hefner was borderline abusive to his “bunnies” — if not physically. I don’t think the Hustler empire is nearly the same.
Her statement about CAA doesn’t surprise me. She’s (shockingly) a good actress, and yet kinda disappeared from acting right around that time.
You certainly have a point of view.
No, he publically aired an hour of his guests castigating and educating him so that he and the audience could take something constructive from what he admitted to be a major fuckup. I can’t think of a better way to deal with it actually.
And of course it’s the very first comment everyone sees on this story, because...Kinja.
“then proclaim it’s cool if they use it”
Indians often call themselves Indians, but afaik it’s still usually considered rude for other people to do so.
Can we get some fall weather to go along with it now?
