No mention of Mahershala Ali in this piece? He was/is my favorite actor on House of Cards and so far (I’m thru the first 4 episodes) he’s been awesome in Luke Cage too.

From a structural perspective, I feel like the plot collapsed on itself after the hostage scene. They did not do enough to explain why Misty or the hostages weren’t able to clear Luke’s name.
-SPOILERS-
This series lost so much steam when it transitioned from the Cottonmouth storyline to the Diamondback storyline. Very similar to Daredevil S2 with the transition from The Punisher to Electra.
Dam, there is a lot to unpack herere.
Wow! You nailed my take on this show. I was really excited to start this series because I love this character from Jessica Jones. I watched the first episode and was hungry for more, but the second.... I slogged on through I think about 4 more episodes until a certain funeral scene in a church and I had to shut it…
Is anybody else completely disappointed in how the show portrayed Misty Knight? She is quite possibly the most unintentionally incompetent police officer I’ve ever seen depicted in a television show. The others characters praise her detective skills, but anytime she is shown using those “skills” she is either coming…
Dude the writing on this show is awful and it seems like a bunch of producers trying to write a “black” show. If you want a real representation of black style check out “the get down”. Its got an actual soul and style to it. Luke Cage is awful.
So, I watched the first three episodes last night and I really liked it, though I do have a few gripes.
One thing this discussion doesn’t touch on in detail, which really bothered me, was the attempt at a Black Lives Matter/police brutality commentary. Mainly because it didn’t fit. Making the case that the police hunt for Luke Cage was about him being black was forced: It is hard to argue that they would have shown more…
i wont read this yet because I’m only halfway through the series. But as a white person, can someone explain what all this “black-ness” is yall keep talking about?
