It would be interesting to see in Rosslyn. its pretty long and is super busy in the morning. I always try to walk the whole way up though, its a good morning wakeup. I have never seen Dupont in the morning though.

I just skimmed the article, but my theory is that when you stand to one side, to make room for walkers, you leave almost half the escalator space free, whereas if you stand you use up all the space of the escalator. Assuming one step becomes available for alighting per second:
