Nah. The great differentiator in Porsche 911s is air-cooled vs. water-cooled. I will admit that the 997 is probably the only water-cooled that I’d buy, but that will hold true even when the next model comes out (and I did own a 996 at one point.)

that’s incredible
yep
Cool car, but, man, I’m embarrassed to admit that, despite being a lifelong car enthusiast who’s favorite all-time car is the F1, I’m officially losing track of all of these McLaren model numbers.
They just aren’t that fun. I’ve driven a Porsche SUV, and then I actually bought an X3, which was the second best SUV I’d driven after the Porsche) thinking I could compromise on a fun car. I could not, so my wife drives an SUV instead. I wish she wanted a wagon or sedan, but, like many these days, she want’s to be…
Yeah, lets make an enthusiast oriented 2 seater without world-beating speed, but we won’t offer a manual. Just terrible.
Is a hatch really that necessary? There are plenty of manual sedans out there. Either way, even compromise is overrated. I have a family, and, when I finally needed to put a normal sized person in the back seat, I went from a 911 and Cayman to...a 135i. lol There really aren’t any SUVs out there that are THAT fun…
That’s what BMW is for. Porsche shouldn’t compromise.
Yeah, I just can’t imagine a time when I wouldn’t want to rev match. That’s a large part of the fun to me, and, yes, I do heal/toe around town. :)
Why bother driving a manual if you let the car rev match for you??? I just assumed everyone turned that off.
On stock turbos, the N54 is easier to get higher numbers, since it’s a twin-turbo, but the N55 is lighter and more reliable. I’ve seen the N55 get up to around 500 whp on stock turbos, and somewhere around 700hp with an upgraded turbo, IIRC.
I’m still laughing at all of them, although I’m laughing at the buyers more.
Yeah, it’s a shame that this car is about the same weight as my 2012 135i, which was already a little heavy for its size.
Sports cars alone have tiny sales numbers. Porsche started offering more manuals again, because they saw how well they were selling on the second hand market.
Exactly. Sports cars are wholly unnecessary. They’re about fun, and the manual is a crucial part of the equation, unless maybe you’re competitively racing.
Yeah, my 2012 only has 40K miles, but I’m planning on keeping mine long term, because fun cars are getting worse every year. The only way I’ll get rid of it is if I go back to Porsche, which I had to abandon for family reasons. I needed something with a legit trunk and backseat, and the 1er was the only thing that…
