The biggest obstacle my partner said she would have is that he is super short, FWIW.
I’m good.
The joke would have been funny if the Safari 996 had fried egg headlights, but, it’s a 996.2, so it doesn’t.
The nostalgia of the Fox body from my high school days is exactly why I wouldn’t want one. Terrible.
I’d say they’re embarrassing to be seen in even when brand new.
Yeah, that’s at least debatable. The clear lenses still have that yolk looking orange bulb.
p.s. Don’t get me wrong, though. The 996 is a cool car. I’d probably still pick it over a 991, despite the interior, although I’d probably pick a 987 over just about any of them. Man, I miss that car.
Point being that the Escape and Escape Hybrid will be an option, and the best of the CUV options, at that.
Yeah, that’s going to happen with any infotainment screen over time. At least the 997 one can be dealt with in a few ways.
Not only am I apparently old, I’m actually starting to be glad about it.
It’s not the cheapness so much as the very dated, late ‘90s curves and lines. It’s the only 911 interior that I don’t think will ever look the good kind of “classic.” FWIW, the 991 interior is my second least favorite. It’s just too slanted towards luxury. In the water-cooled era, I think Porsche threaded the…
Yeah, I’m just saying that going to a lower profile made sense in the 60s, because they handled so much better. These days, driving dynamics of CUVs are fine for non-enthusiasts, so the extra space and height is once again welcomed.
Owned one for years, still think it’s the worst of all 911 interiors.
I just don’t think it’s a big deal. Modern CUVs drive fine for most people. For the few of us who still care, we can just go a Mazda or whatever.
I guess that’s why we should push for higher ground clearance...so we can go under???
We clearly don’t know better, because it’s what everyone wants these days. The introduction of shorter cars did make sense, because the driving dynamics were so much better, but the technology has advanced enough since then that CUVs handle well enough for most people today, especially at our low speed limits.
You conveniently left off the Escape and upcoming Escape hybrid.
