So, did the guy in effect plead guilty to “drunk and disorderly” or something of that ilk? If the DA is too clueless/sexist/whatever to bust him for sexual assault, can he be forced to charge him with drunk and disorderly, since he basically copped to that as his “defense” for groping?

Exactly. I’m also that age, and it was widely accepted that if you got drunk and went to a guy’s room, that *was* consent. (Though even then, I think a lot of us would have said bringing his friends in crossed the line to rape.)

The CBC streaming of the swimming has also been superb.

For anyone who can, I really recommend just skipping the broadcast coverage and going with the live streams of events. The swimming live stream shows all the events AND the medal ceremonies, plus it has a pair of decent British commenters who are good but don’t talk too much. It’s been enjoyable viewing.
