How could you forget the truck in season 7?
Seriously. They’ve turned them into like overgrown geckos.
Seriously. Tyrion and Varys saying that they were approaching parity was totally ridiculous. At this point Dany has a much reduced force of Northmen, Unsullied and Dothraki left along with one dragon and possibly some folks from the Vale; the wildings went back home. Yara doesn’t seem in any position to help so she…
Dany definitely knows about Jon; she saw his wounds last season.
I don’t know why they’re doing the same nonsense with Cersei they just did with the NK. They made him so OP that the only way to win was through a last ditch save.
“During the party, Tormund very loudly talks about Jon getting murdered and coming back to life. Daenerys very clearly hears this, yet is somehow not at all interested. It’s weird.”
I echo this as well. I still watch and generally enjoy it, but upon a second viewing I start to see the cracks in each episode. I am just ready for it to be done.
The scorpions/Ballista are in the books but god damn they aren’t a threat to a grown dragon. Especially at a distance. Dragon scales are basically paper in this show. In the book they are just this side of Vibranium.
For me it’s the re-loading more than anything else. To wind those up and throw in another bolt should take a long ass time.
There are some shows that I am sad when they end because I will no longer be getting new episodes. Game of Thrones is not one of those shows. I still find the show enjoyable (for the most part), but the quality has definitely taken a dive and I imagine it would only get worse the longer the show went on.
I’m not about to say that this episode was more satisfying than last week’s, because that seems insane—“The Long Night” has only gotten better and better upon each subsequent viewing. But I agree that somehow it did land fairly well, especially when you consider some of the absolute nonsense that went down this week.…
Other problems with the episode
Some problems I had with the dragon ambush
This just felt like two different episodes. The first half was so strong and compelling, and then as soon as we have to go to battle again, it went straight down the tube. Splitting the already depleted force was dumb, the whole thing with Dragonstone was so ludicrously unbelievable that it left me dumbstruck, and…
Couldn’t even pet the dog goodbye. Fuck you, Jon Snow.
She jumped out of the tree--right above the NK and Bran.
I’m glad someone said this. It was pretty obvious how this happened. Idiotically, no one pointed out that perhaps the safe space where a bunch dead bodies were buried is not the safest places when fighting an enemy who can raise the dead.
I’m still convinced that the story should end with Danny melting down the Iron Throne.
Even in the crypts of Winterfell, where the women, children, Tyrion and Varys are hold up, somehow wights break in and raise havoc.
