This is kind of what I see for them too. It’s MUCH more profitable for them to operate as a supplier than as an OEM. They should focus on their strengths in infrastructure and battery tech instead of trying to battle companies that have been building cars for 100+ years in manufacturing and build quality.

I agree, but my main concern is that they won’t be able to survive as other companies that have other sources of income take bits of their market share. Even if Tesla maintains 50% market share, I don’t know if they can survive. I hope I’m wrong, but even just suggesting that the company isn’t car-Jesus seems to be

It’s basically Duke Nukem Forever.

Of course it will fail, the hype is just too great. All sequels suck...except for Terminator 2.

My theory: the new Supra will not carry the name Supra, will be a crossover, and also will be made of carbon-fiber-reinforced Gouda.

But the NSX was never a Supra competitor. And the GT-R is in an entirely different segment now.

Tesla also has a history of making something that Porsche hasn’t been able to make so far: an electric car which has actually shipped.

he’s talking like that was always the case for Porsche since day 1

Relaxing meditation of the evening:

I was thinking,if something goes wrong catastrophically, you now have to worry about TWO planes,AND a rocket falling on your house,as opposed to if it just blew up at a launch pad somewhere,eh,no biggie.

“My fantastic fantasy prototype car that we aren’t even building yet is faster than your car that’s been on the market for 5 years!” Congratulations Porsche. You’re only a couple year away from beating a car Tesla was selling in 2012.

Let me guess. The chargers will be installed inside actual service bays of dealerships and would require you make an appointment before coming in? Why the hell would you put them in dealerships? Sign some contracts with gas station operators.

Yes. I said that.

At the dealerships? I wonder if there is a risk of overcharging.

Or just suck it up and design their cars to be compatible with [already established] Tesla charging stations.

189 dealerships...vs 1,130 Supercharger Stations with 8,496 Superchargers.

the Mission E’s performance can maintain top speed and reproduce acceleration reliably

310 range is all good, but Porsche will have to put chargers at places outside of Porsche dealers. They should do what Tesla does and put them in places where people go and stay a while. (malls, bookstores, downtown parking areas, etc.)

It will be an “8 series Gran Coupe” if anything BMW did in terms of naming made any sense... but we already know the answer to that.

Granted, this example is 1 year older but if you were in the market for an Evora you can get this one for $3,500 more than the OPs Evora but with 42,500 fewer miles on the odometer, and in an interesting color as well.
