Pelosi seems to be conceding that Trump is a better political player than she is and wants to avoid a confrontation which she’ll lose. But in the absence of a confrontation, he’ll also consolidate his power, so what exactly is accomplished by not impeaching? She’s the Democratic leader of Congress why exactly?

why wouldn’t republicans vote against him though? the next in line is another republican, and Trump’s a tremendous liability. They wouldn’t be so much betraying their party as purifying it of villianous ways (or however they spin it if it goes to the Senate).
