At the risk of self-indulgence, I’m gonna pop down here for whoever is poking around in the comments section to say that this is my last A.V. Club review. (I believe that’s the case for everyone writing an A.V. Club movie review this week.) This is really more of a farewell-toned piece, ICYMI:

Farewell Dowd. You and basically everyone working at this site were so much better than J/O Media deserved.

Dowd, I’m glad the last movie you reviewed for this site was a halfway decent one. I’ll miss your good work around here.

Hey folks. I just wanted to drop in and say thank you to everyone here for all the kind words, and also for reading what I’ve written at The A.V. Club these past nine years. I know I wasn’t always the most consistent presence in the comments, even before the Kinja transition, but I dipped in fairly regularly, and for

Truly, Jim Spanfeller is a herb.

Why aren’t we discussing adult Shauna’s awesome “Yo La Tengo for President” t-shirt?  Best part of the episode for me.

To my ears, Tunnel of Love has the best B-side of any singer-songwriter album ever recorded, arguably any album ever recorded. Tunnel of Love, Two Faces, Brilliant Disguise, One Step Up, When You’re Alone, and Valentine’s Day. Jesus Christ. One Step Up deserves special recognition as “the most depressing song that is

My list of favorite Springsteen songs would mostly be filled with stuff from his work with the E Street Band. But the two top spots are off this album. I love the title track and “Brilliant Disguise”.

Tunnel of Love is a goddamn masterpiece. I remember listening to “One Step Up” on repeat when I was going through a tough breakup. It’s such a deeply personal album and a very relatable one. As for Human Touch and Lucky Town, I rarely listen to those two albums from beginning to end but there are still a handful of
