Ugh, when my girls are dressed up nice for the holidays my MIL and extended family in-laws say that my 7 and 5 year old girls look sexy. Luckily my wife is quick to shut them down tell them not to say things like that every time they do.
No one is saying that you shouldn’t ever. But too often, it’s literally the first comment after ‘hello’ - “oh look how pretty you are/you’ve become/who’s this pretty girl?” - that it can’t be surprising when that becomes the quality she learns to value most.
