“Ford tried really hard to be Tesla, and by most accounts, so far, it hasn’t quite worked”
Misleading clickbait title. You’re better than this.
Everyone’s allowed their opinion, and I respect that. But how is it possible to come the the exact opposite opinion of everyone else?
I too remember all those test for the Dragon or Falcon 9 rocket they use now for all their missions where the were landing them without issue instead of legs not deploying or them being off center when landing. Never saw one if them go up in tests.
I just posted on another thread, but this was a *brand new*, super MASSIVE rocket, using new fuels, built in a freaking field using tents, in a matter of months? I was seriously amazed it even got off the ground! I was absolutely expecting it to get a few feet off the ground, then drop back down and collapse in a far…
when it started the flip up maneuver at the end I literally shouted “holy shit, they’re gonna pull it off!” and then immediately laughed as hard as I have in a long time when it went RUD.
not out of scorn, but out of pure joy that they have the balls to approach this whole enterprise in such a fearless manner. these…
The moment it was just hovering there in the air and then it went to diving mode it really looked like some SciFi stuff, like the aliens decided to engage
Slightly off topic here, but you know N Korea developed and successfully tested a nuclear bomb during the Trump presidency right? And claims to have missiles that could strike US territories at least, if not continental US? Allowing one of the worst human rights abusers on earth to develop the single most destructive…
I like Tesla, I wish them success, but they are not infallible. Reporting on their mistakes is part of *journalism*, and I’m sorry you won’t be able to wear your Tesla merch with as much enthusiasm
Pump the breaks, agro-bro.
Range is EVERYTHING with an electric car.
But that’s partially because Porsche is not willing to make the trade-off between range and reliability that Tesla is, as contributor Mack Hogan has explained.
When Tesla screws up: Jalopnik goes out of its way to remind people how bad of a misstep it is. Repeatedly.
So how big was the check from Porsche?
This is Jalopnik. VW good. Tesla bad. Get with the program.
Judging by this follow up article that hints at “testing parameters” being to blame for their shit range instead of any possible engineering inferiority, while simultaneously ignoring the fact that literally every other automaker also gets THE EXACT SAME CHOICE, I’d say the answer to that question is yes.
The least reliable car on the UK market is an EV, with a single transmission ratio.
Essentially, traditional manufacturers have customers that are less likely to accept drive unit failures, battery replacements and quality concerns that Tesla early adopters often write off as a small price to pay for a car from the future.
Why does it matter if “electric vehicle testing is complicated”. As long as the EPA applies it’s rules across the board for all electric car manufacturers, why give Porsche special treatment?
The CYBERTRUCK is for people who were not going to buy a truck anyway.
