I don’t see a problem with the rule. Its better than having the refs constantly analyzing still frames to determine when a receiver actually gains possession.

If you catch the ball outside the end zone, and then run it into the end zone, it should work the same as a runner who carries the ball.

Change the rule to what though. Do you know how many fumbles that would get called which are now considered incomplete?
