The Expanded Polystyrene (EPS, aka Stryofoam) loses it’s crush resistance over time due to ozone exposure. If the EPS is too “soft” it doesn’t decelerate your noggin enough before it hits the helmet shell & then someone else has to wipe your ass for the rest of your life.
