In the episode from the first half of the season where he goes to Sally's school I thought he looked a lot like a young Kyle McLachlan. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

What happened to "every single day of my life"? :-(

I do think Don felt some kind of connection with her more than the models he was with. When he thought he knew her from somewhere it's because something about her sparked memories of something about his past. Considering his background it makes sense he'd consider her more of a kindred spirit than the kind of women

I think he actually said "I want you to have the life you deserve," and that combined with his demeanor and her reaction made me think the check was for $25 or something, even though that's not the kind of thing Don would normally do.

I don't think it was doomed from the beginning. I think it really started to go off the rails at the end of S5 when she wanted him to use his connections to get her a part. He thought that was beneath her and was against it at first but gave in, but in doing so lost the motivation to really work at his relationship

I liked her a lot more in Rectify than Mad Men.

Henry was actually against that situation. He said to Betty he could provide and didn't want to owe anything to Don.
Also I'm pretty sure he started paying rent at some point. The only way the show communicated it was he once said to Don something like "you can take it out of my rent". I don't remember what the context

I got the impression that at least one of Megan's parents originally came from France. I don't remember if that was ever actually stated though.

I think someone- possibly Betty- also said the same thing to him earlier in the series.

I knew I had recently seen another show that used that song really well, but I couldn't remember what it was. Thanks!

All the way back in season 1 actually. The episode "Shoot".

Pete was at at his most likeable in season 2 (and maybe the first half of season 3) for me. He had shown a lot of growth since season 1 (season 1 Pete would have fallen for Duck's manipulation). Don acknowledged that as well when he told Pete he trusted him to take care of business in California and it worked out.
Bert'

Roger and Don have come a long way. At least once every season early on they would go through periods where they'd refuse to talk to each other and Bert would have to mediate. All the way up to season 5 I think.

Yeah that seemed to be implied by the editing, but I think it was unintentional.

Yeah I thought they must have come up with those terms expecting Don to turn them down. I came here hoping to see if anyone else got that feeling.

I liked how at first he was about to give and leave until Ginsberg saw him and seemed glad to see him.

Watching this season for the first time now. This thread made me realize something: Lou is the advertising world's version of Charles "the unit killer" Marimow from Season 4 of the Wire.
Lou doesn't cast talent aside lightly, he hurls it away with great force.

I noticed that too. He looked so behind the times in that scene. That must be why they lingered on him standing still on the slow moving platform while everyone else at the airport was walking.

Most of My Heroes Still Don't Appear On No Stamps is a great album all the way through. I haven't heard the other one though.

Coming straight from the underground!
