Careful! Wit like that and you’ll be head writer for the show!
Considering he initially seemed like a grimly serious guy, it’s been a delightful treat the last few years to discover what a genuinely charismatic and downright comical guy Daniel Craig can be. I really hope after the newest Bond gets released that he has a long career. A Knives Out cinematic universe seems like a…
You’re complaining about a thing that, while it is very bad, is not the thing Captain Turbo was talking about with his comment.
I’m a bit surprised at the positive response to this episode. I found everything disappointing, including the new ‘Diner Lobster’ variant, which went through the motions so much that I was waiting for a twist, like going meta on the premise or something. But I think the response shows that Mulaney’s in that arc of a…
I love Byrne and Mulaney and I didn’t think either was great yesterday.
I was really excited about Byrne but was let down. For one thing it didn’t sound good. He didn’t seemed mic’d well so his voice didn’t project well imho. Thinking back on it, I wonder if it’s because Byrne refused to lip sync and the SNL theater just doesn’t do acoustics well.
I get this over early this week.
Meh. David Byrne is just stealing Rich Hall's bit.
They also go out of their way to tell us how “hot” he is and tell us about his big dick. Yes I get it’s sometimes a supposedly ironic premise, but it’s not Farley at Chippendales and more boosting him for the tweens, like they always did with Fallon.
Wow mustache Bieber looks like a creep.
Who does he think wrote that sketch? He basically just accused a black woman of being racist and sexist against herself.
I’m going to keep repeating this until it happens, but more Heidi Gardner, please.
I think I finally figured out what his complaint about Weekend Update is. This week was just an absolutely horrid week for everything. Just an absolute horrific garbage fire. Yet the jokes, which WERE mildly funny, were told with the same tone and demeanor as all the non-political jokes. I think Perkins wants some…
I’d appreciate some clarification on why Bowen Yang’s 80s-comedy gay stereotype character is praised as part of his ‘unapologetically gay character work’, while Ego Nwodim’s personally aggrieved African-American studies professor bit is racist and emblematic of SNL’s ‘weak-ass history on race and comedy’
To be fair, I think most of us are tired of Baldwin’s Trump impersonation. It’s just lazy. Although to be fair to him, Trump is such a caricature of a person himself that he may be somehow immune to impersonation.
Tv commercial pitchman Peyton Manning was an athlete and a good host at the time.
It really seems like it is time for you to move on from reviewing SNL. It isn’t that you are necessarily incorrect in your reviews (generally speaking, I agree with about 2/3 of whatever you have to say any given week) but rather you have nothing left to really say about SNL.
The problem with Leslie on SNL is that as soon as she was on screen you knew what the joke was. This big black woman is going to yell at someone about something, and that’s about it. I think that can be deployed usefully and hilariously at times, but they needed to write her more than just that, and they never did.
Between spearing the dead bird on his cane last time and throwing the tape dispenser right onto the shelf, Adam Driver is the master of live-television stunt comedy, a category I never knew existed.
