I have mixed feelings on some of this. I am what would be called an “O.G.” blerd; I was reading and collecting comics, video games, watching anime and into D&D/fantasy 35 years ago and I CAUGHT MAJOR HELL from black people for it. As the first wave of blacks immigrating to mostly white suburbs in the 80s, it was not

I’m wondering how many folks have read the comics, particularly ‘X-men : Legacy”. I believe in that series ALL of the characters with powers were him and inside his mind.

Reid and others, I need your help; I have been working on a 10-point racism scale.

So, weird story. At my daughter’s elementary school years ago, there was this skinhead who dropped his kid off and always went out of his way to talk to me. I am (and will always be) a black nerd. Now, you may ask how did I know he was a skinhead? I was a new wave and punk/metal kid and I knew the tattoos. Some, of

I suspect that our issue is a dash of toxic masculinity combined with an archaic interpretation of an Iron Age religion which was already not ahead of the evolutionary curve at the moment.

There are many great and wondrous things about our community. Like any community, we have our unique talents, creativity and beauty.

Why am I grey for this? Do I need to reply thru kinja or something? I never say anything hurtful or mean I don’t think.  Do I need to go thru some process to be able to post? I am serious here and not being sarcastic because I try to think about what I post and bring more light than heat. Here I was trying to speak

This is clearly a troll to stir up anti-black and anti-white sentiment. (What is crazy is how I say thoughtful things all the time and get greyed that aren’t racist against any group.)

Most Deacons try waaay too hard; bucking for that opening when the young minister with talent breaks off and gets his own church.

I was and am an avid reader and comic book/ fantasy nerd. WAAAY early and around the time “Stranger Things” takes place. I liked metal, punk, new wave in addition to hip hop and jazz when I was young in the early eighties. I liked and still like hockey and soccer more than basketball. I caught crazy hell from black

I know this will reek of Gen X anti-intellectualism, but can’t we just enjoy a thing without micromanaging it to death? I’m not saying you’re doing that by any means, but as longtime readers of comics, we should be used to McGuffins, red-herrings, mulligans, plot holes, deus ex machina’s and such. They’re comics for

I’m a comics OG(original geek) and have read comics for over 35 years STEADILY and I am black. Let me tell you,at the end of the day, most folks don’t want to see white men in chains and, while reparations would be nice (and have been done for others before), the REAL thing is to be allowed stories to be told for us

I have to echo that you need to finish that memoir...

I find it interesting that people will rush to the take of her being anti-Semitic; a take not altogether unwarranted because of the lack of precision of her speech, while simultaneously referring to or being OK with the referral of Mexicans as rapists, black bastards for kneeling and not understanding that many

Ok, so, while the internet is known for flaming on others which is all well and good, I will act as a voice of somewhat reason and well though out discussion. I am at least twice as old as the modern internet and thusly, I have not forgotten how to win a debate with facts and light rather than flames and might.

Also,

Actually, she already regrets it. She is one of many people in this late-stage-capitalism’s day and age that has made the nihilistic and materialistic decision to make money over sanity, compassion and reality.

I can totally dig the feeling these stories are a bit old and tired but I find the gang story an equally tired narrative. “They Hate U Give” while new(ish) was a teeny bit tired. At some point, beyond my lifetime I suspect, they’ll make movies about black people that aren’t true stories from the past (Glory, 12 Years

You get an ‘Amen’ AND a “Welllll!”
