Christ, both of these people need to get the fuck off of social media. If you’re an actor, don’t DM film critics with a passive aggressive “jokes.” If you’re a film critic, don’t post tetchy TikTok videos in response. I’m still theoretically a couple of decades away from my “old man yells at cloud” phase of my life,

“So, do you like Batman?”

I’m going to go against the AV Club grain here and say Kevin Smith seems like a really decent, cool guy.

No NFTs get such a bad rap because no one can present a compelling argument for what they’re actually good for. Worth noting that you make a point about what they’re not good for without even bothering to try and say what they are good for.

There are no applications that we can’t already do better in a more efficient way.

Dude, instead of four paragraphs of text you could have just said “I studied the blade” and we would have all gotten it.

I think maybe people take for granted what a subtle actor Nicholson typically is, and maybe have seen The Shining too many times. There’s a distinct difference between Jack as Jack Napier and as the Joker, and they’re both pretty great performances.

Hey folks. I just wanted to drop in and say thank you to everyone here for all the kind words, and also for reading what I’ve written at The A.V. Club these past nine years. I know I wasn’t always the most consistent presence in the comments, even before the Kinja transition, but I dipped in fairly regularly, and for

Kendall: has spent all season in an increasingly manic bubble, which has now burst in self-loathing flood of self-awareness - “I think the party’s over”. I don’t think this is the end of his story, but it’s the beginning of the next chapter.

I just hope these fans have never tried to read a novel. “Two hundred pages in, and he’s still just wandering around Dublin!”; “I’m nearly at the end, Holden’s done nothing and he’s still complaining about phonies!”; “when the fuck are they going to actually kill this damn whale!?”

To each their own, but IMO....

I mean, the obvious reason is that many of those people are just looking for reasons to hate Finn and Rose, and here they are together on an adventure.

But that's absolutely true about Finn and Rose's mission as well. It's a great misdirect. It's also central to the themes of the film in ways Thor's quest isn't.

No. Dottie was a hard-ass with Kit - that’s why she called for the high fastballs that Kit had never before been able to handle. Her goal wasn’t to let Kit win, but to help Kit figure out how to win on her own. Kit finally did.

No, she didn’t.

she was already known as a terrible actor

It’s probably Madonna’s best screen performance, precisely because she’s a relatively minor role of the ensemble and she really did seem to reign it in to work within the group.

This... was a catastrophically bad career decision (she got her pay-or-play so maybe not that bad, but no one casts you for the roles you didn’t play). Based on silliness. Madonna’s role was pretty small. It’s not cameo-small, and she was definitely part of the draw for the film given that she was like the biggest pop

Oh my god, this. We never needed a whiff of backstory about the Emperor. He just.....was. He was this big, powerful, evil guy. End of story.
