So you are advocating for cuts to defense so we can pay for education and healthcare? You sound a lot like a democrat honey ;) you just do not know it yet.

Did you go to public schools as a kid? Did your parents drive on public roads to get you there? Ever call 911 and have fire or police show up? Ta-da! You’re a socialist.

I have a couple conservatives friends and they LOVE the idea that stuff will magically get taken care of through charity. One of them thought school funding could be handled that way, because she worked somewhere once where they donated to a school.

Crazy Ex Girlfriend has a fat person as a romantic lead?

It’s easy to do when you have your budgetary priorities straight and don’t act like a frightened little child.

Clinton’s loss wasn’t due to her ideology—it was bad luck, no charisma, a whole lot of personal baggage, and frankly a much weaker CV than advertised

This false narrative is old and stale. Get a new one. Most of our allies provide universal healthcare and have way more sustainable budgets than we do.

If you dig up the twitter thread about this, someone asks her if she thinks it’s a good thing that parents have to start gofundme’s tpo pay for their childrens’ cancer treatments. She responds that it’s a bitter person who doesn’t see something wonderful in community coming together to support each other.

Budgets are a list of priorities. I don’t think anyone is saying that these things are “free”. We are saying that our priorities with the way government funds are spent are out of wack, and should be geared more towards things that actually promote the common good.

Government is socialism. It’s designed to provide services (infrastructure, defense, economy, etc) for EVERYONE, by taking a little bit from the constitutants (and, progressively, more from the rich than the poor).

“I support...” is not the same thing as “I promise this outcome....”

Here’s a fun myth: giving money to rich people means poor people get more money.

We all pay taxes in one way or another, we know where the money would come from. And how refreshing to see that money get used for the betterment of the people instead of endless oversea wars and endless sports stadiums at home.

That is not a promise, honey.

She’s not talking about free anything. She’s talking about a wholesale shift in how our society operates.

I saw how easy it would be, as a parent, to accept the idea that my children deserve healthcare and education.”

You mean like the deficit exploding trillion dollar giveaway to the rich that was the Republican tax bill?

I don’t know, you really think that many young voters are enthused about tax cuts and amped up military spending?

they don’t care, fat is the one thing that it’s still ok to mock

But the thing is, the GOP base turns out basically no matter what. Democratic turnout varies with enthusiasm, and the stodgy, aging ‘3rd Way Democrats’ don’t drive much enthusiasm.
