I’m not sure I’m following your argument here. Restoring Hope doesn’t have the same owner as Justify. They are trained in the same barn, though, so that’s why railbirds are speculating that Baffert gave instructions to send him out as a blocker. Given that Restoring Hope’s owner seemed pretty pissed at the ride the…
I don’t think that’s an issue at all. These ownership groups buy up multiple horses with potential - they are lucky to get a Classic, let alone a Triple Crown winner out of less than 1% of them. Hell, we probably even wouldn’t have seen Justify run in these races had an assistant (or maybe one of the owners?) not…
I can’t even imagine.
Oh, God. A college friend of mine committed suicide last year. He was (among many other things) a beloved softball coach and his team included his 11 and 13 year old daughters. My heart breaks for them, and for him, to have been in such pain that he thought death was his only way out.
No. It’s not. Please don’t let that horrible depression voice tell you that. You can make a life despite it. A good life, even.
Driving class wrecks are always the best. I don’t think anything has topped this standout:
“New Worlds”, with Murray, cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang and pianist Vanessa Perez. I saw it a few weeks ago in Houston - loved it.
It’s just bad business for the bartenders. They make the best tips when they are everyone’s friend, and as neutral as Switzerland.
When Michigan scores a goal the crowd chants: “It’s all your fault! It’s all your fault!” at the opposing goalie.
Have you attended a Dallas Stars game?
Great story! He really endeared himself to the Vegas fans as well. A Facebook friend of mine showed up at a stick-and-puck session at the rink, and there was Fleury in net, letting all the novice players have a go at him. She said she practically hyperventilated when she got to take a shot.
Exactly! I found him to be a kind of cute and charming crush for Menolly in the Dragonsinger trilogy, but as the storyline went on I could not figure out why he was held up as the next Masterharper. Good Lord, the glass ceiling exists even on Pern.
One of her later books, “Dragonseye” really annoyed me in regards to its gay characters. For the first time she wrote about male blue/green riders in a committed relationship, but then she made them the most stereotypical gay boy types imaginable. Points for trying, I guess? There was also a very nasty interview…
Completely agreed WRT your infrastructure comment.
Then there is the unholy mess that is a “shared use” path. Take San Antonio’s Riverwalk (the more suburban section near the missions, not the tourist trap downtown).
Oh hey, it’s my front sidewalk! The local kids love to huck their razor scooters off the thing.
FWIW, the Starbucks closest to my office here in Houston keeps a pitcher of ice water on the counter for the local (majority black) homeless guys. They come in for a few minutes to cool off and refuel in the summer. No one seems to have an issue.
I happen to agree with you. I was just trying to point out where that “have to carry” mindset can come from.
Completely agree. I have a friend who has a CCP. She carries around her special, locked fanny pack everywhere. No one is getting into that thing unless she gives them the key. I personally don’t understand how carrying a weapon that requires a hell of a lot of finagling to get out is going to help her should she get…
