The shorts are fun. Cars 2 is ok.

I think Syndrome makes sense as both:
A - A poetic exaggeration of Bob's worse impulses as a hero.
B - An anti-'corporate visionary' jibe.

It's worth noting that the term used in the movie is specials. Given the more general connotations of the term, I'm fairly certain 'superiority qua superiority' is not what is being invoked.

Yup, the Dash storyline where he's racing at the end as a means to be social rather than to enact petty revenge on his teacher seemed to be entirely about distancing yourself from the schemes of others.
Toy Story 3 is certainly in the running for finest sequel of all time. Godfather II is probably still beating it, but I'm surprised TS3 is as close as it is.
