Actually, I find that pretty believable. I would sob if even a kinda 'meh' acquaintance grenade jumped a notorious drug lord that was vaguely threatening a lot of my world.

I haven't done any of the Romans yet, of the civilized factions the Persians were super great. Their faction bonuses really made for a cool strategic experience and their army was a goldlilocks' style 'just right' but in an interesting and challenging rather than tepid way.

If you're also worried about a lack of a wizard or boom character (though the 5e Bard is amazing and totally able to do that plus heal and provide bags of chips) I'd just give them reasonable access to utility potions and grenades. They just need to understand that this is a resource to manage not hoard.
