There are a lot of, hmm, aspects to aspects.

Their new scheme is that they are selling the whole brand not individual books.

You can probably throw in some house-rules stacking if you like. We use a rule where Inspiration trumps Disad - so if you are on fire (dis ad) and you throw the guy to the ground (ad) that would cancel the stack. But if you REALLY hate the guy for lighting you on fire (inspiration) then you get the additional die).

I was so pleased that dang starship comparison chart had the torpedo sphere from the old WEG books on it.

I loved 4th Edition, but I respect your reasons for hating it. There were good and bad things about their attitude towards tradition, and while I really miss the good things about that in 5th edition, I very much appreciate that the new edition really has a deliberate and engaged stance towards tradition and history.

What intrigues me is that as long as you don't let it break the basic Advantage/Disadvantage economy you could very easily drop in a more Fate-like system.

Neverwinter has some nice 4th ed elements and is actually a fun game.

Yeah, for all the things I miss about D&D with regard to 13th Age, 4th ed, or Dungeonworld and for all that I resent that D&D just took little pieces of them for it's 2ed mincemeat pie in a 3rd crust…

What they finally ended up with is a far cry from 3rd Ed. It's similar enough to not be off putting, but what the reviewer says about D&D eternal ain't far enough. There's a ton of 2ed in there and more 4th ed then you would at first think.

Yeah, Acquisitions Incorporated is pretty great.

The big change is one of you is going to end up running the game and you'll need a few more friends or for the other one to run multiple characters.

Plate armor is also less ridiculously awesome than in prior editions.

Yeah, I think the break down is:
Eds X - 3.5 = Wizards v Fighters is broke broke.
4th = Fixed.
D&D = Wizards v Fighters is profoundly less broke, still a little broke.

I am very cool with it coming out last if it gives them the time to find the important aspects coming up in actual play and discourse and give them the appropriate emphasis.

I might be interested. I really want to finish out my collection before it all goes away.

yeah, organized play for this is actually quite good these days. You can still pull a bum DM from time to time, but then you can become that bum!

I'm ok with Peter and Alicia in that I think there's more potential there than in most of her match-ups and in that the 'second marriage' plot-line is most often very dull.

This sounds one improbable accident/gypsy curse away from a freaky Friday.

Honestly, in my experience abstract sympathy can sometimes provide the best relief. What I really dread in talking to other parents, for example, is getting a response that would be the perfect solution - if I were anyone other than the schlub I am.

Eh, I'm one of those contrarians who found Jim and Pam's pre-marriage days largely frustrating and dull. They were well done, but were so pre-ordained and just felt so drawn out. Sometimes you just want the villains/heroes to team up and get down to plotting out problems for others.
