@wes.tillmon: But they are very clearly a bunch of spoiled douchebags. :/

VLC? No. AirVideo. The current implementation of VLC kind of sucks. AirVideo blows iOS VLC away. Why have the aTV doing the transcoding when you can have your much beefier desktop doing it instead?

@boo: I lived in Japan for many years, and I miss my bathtub/shower quite often too. It was awesome.

@yongwlee: USB. The restore disk for the new MBA is a USB drive. Or from a separate USB drive.. it's been easy to do remote installs on Macs for many years.

It's a home made Backblaze pod!

@Claytu2: There's a few emulators for the original Apple TV that use a USB joystick.

AirVideo = the only app that I want for my Apple TV. Let my desktop box handle all of the live transcoding. I use AirVideo on my iPad almost daily and have rarely encountered any issues.

@pz: Vast swaths of Nevada and west Texas. I had horrible coverage and countless dropped calls in Irving, TX too. (Right between Dallas & Fort Worth, near DFW)

@LABurns: Tell that to all of the AT&T haters around here. Around here, if it's Verizon it gets a pass, but if it's AT&T, pour on the hatorade...

This is one device that I am really looking forward to reading reviews of. But there's no way that I'm going to pre-order one...

@CSX321: Strange. I never saw that before. Thanks!

This is a good idea for folks that place caches because you'll know if your cache has been moved from its original location. One of the things that got annoying about geocaching was finding vandalized caches or poorly maintained ones.

@Timmy: I agree. I wish that Netflix would allow accounts. Have one main "family account" that is responsible for the billing, and allow "sub accounts" for the wife/kids/etc, each with its own streaming queue. I'd even pay another $2/mo for the ability to do that.

Notice that the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge is a HUGE hot spot for girls... who are checking in on Foursquare while driving across the very same bridge. Yikes.

I'm sure the fact that she's a somewhat photogenic, attractive, thin girl had absolutely nothing to do with it either. Not saying that's everything, but I have this sinking feeling that if she was overweight and not as easy on the eyes, this wouldn't be a story right now. :/

@HotButteredToast: Yet look at how her 'experiment' went viral on the internet and people are reposting it and saying "Eeeew I won't eat there again.."

About the "curiosity in interesting places" and they picked out Austin. Austin has a pretty liberal population. Houston has an openly gay mayor and a decent sized gay population. Dallas has a 'gayborhood' called Oak Lawn, right near downtown. 6th largest gay population in the US.

So they're trying to keep it from being a spam filled self-promoting circle jerk.
