Well, might as well send a few satellites out that way. At least it's a sensible target instead of just "Hey, I wonder what's this way..." (although that is cool too..)

If I could run AirVideo on an Apple TV, I'd buy one tomorrow. Let my desktop Mac handle the transcoding and have the Apple TV just play the stream. It works great on my iPhone. No more having to worry about the TV attached device being able to decode media.. let the desktop do it. Sweet!

Easier for China to do because they don't care if they displace a few snakes or other critters. In the US and especially California, it's a huge issue.

@hulahoophugs: It does, and you're right. I have both an Apple TV and Roku. Each one serves its purpose. I use the Apple TV a lot for streaming audio. It shows up as an AirTunes source.

Google TV and to a point the Boxee Box are both vaporware until they are actually shipping products.

@Noodle-Works: We have TV and still torrent TV shows. The internet is my Tivo. :)

@Timmy: Agreed. Some parental controls would be nice. Also, accounts. It would be nice if my wife could have an account where she could set up her stuff, her Pandora profile, her Netflix queue. Instead she just screws up mine. :|

@hulahoophugs: "Netflix on Roku is god awful and you know it. You can't even search."

How often do I use Facebook chat? Um, it's become the only IM client that I use. None of my friends are using Yahoo or AIM anymore. They're all using Facebook Chat, which we have found to be pretty solid and un-buggy, even on the iPhone app.

@SarahMC: The ignorance of the assumed to be female Gizmodo author is equally horrifying. *sigh*

Stuff like this is why so many people give the finger to movie studios.

@chrisburlow: agreed.. there's a fine line between "flavorful & zesty" and "OH GOD MY HEAD IS ON FIRE." :)

If only it was yellow and had the CAT logo on it..

@madisondj: Does Hulu Plus ring a bell? They're double dipping as well, and we're supposed to be ok with it because that's what happens on cable TV. :/ Ads are everywhere.

@ddhboy: I'm worried Netflix is going to head the same way eventually...

@FriarNurgle: I've been wondering how long Netflix would stay ad-free.. I think it's only a matter of time before they start throwing in ads like Hulu. :/

@t0ughguy0: I'm wondering if that's an unexpected side effect of Chernobyl.. Hrm...

@Ryan: I have both a Wii and a Roku HD, and I think that the quality from the Roku beats the Wii hands down. It's even better now that they fixed the Netflix interface on the Roku.

@matsayz: Nope, nope, and nope. It's still just an internet-streamybox. The Apple TV is more useful.
