This is actually a tricky issue for me, as a future lawyer, because it seems like an impossible task to be a good criminal defense attorney in a rape trial and not seem like an advocate for rape culture. To me, pointing out any inconsistencies in the victim's (the lawyer will probably say she's a "complaining witness"

It's not as controversial as the redskins.

Really? I love hummus, but I can't picture it going with fries at all.

To be fair, not even Sean Hannity knew he could have to defend ketchup on steak some day when he launched his Dijon mustard assault on Obama. Which is why you should never try to attack someone's food choices for their cultural significance. Taste is unique enough that at some point something you or those you support

Honey mustard
BBQ sauce

Not necessarily. The defendant not testifying is super common and the jury is told not to draw negative inferences from it. (Prosecution can't comment on it either). That being said, I hope he's found guilty.

That's a good legal brain teaser. When would show focused on promoting "real" relationships (with a heavy implication of lots of sex) constitute sexual harassment due to a hostile work environment?

I think he's like if Kevin Spacey had a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting.

In their comment history they say:

Maybe I'm due for a reread. When my Shakespeare class in undergrad did this play, my professor was also emphasizing its patriotic and comedic nature, but he could have been wrong. I should finish the last few plays I haven't read yet first, however.

Yeah. People want to give themselves pats on the back for embracing diversity, but they can do so in the most superficial (and dare I say "problematic") ways.

Some things are likely to be exploitive and even racist, sometimes people won't agree on it. But worrying too much about appropriating can have the opposite problem of people not being willing to explore or appreciate things. Or adapt to make new things.

Of course. No one should be punished for cultural expression. But the fact that it happens a lot doesn't seem like an argument for keeping things separate. Rather it seems like one for people opening up and sharing as many experiences as possible.

That sounds more like an issue with our country's racist discipline system.

It's probably because of my white maleness, but my liberalism starts to fizzle out with discussions of "cultural appropriation." Or maybe it's turned up because the whole concept has always struck me as illiberal. People shouldn't be racist or disrespectful, but I don't like the idea that someone can't thoughtfully

I am ambivalent on watermelon. But I'm the type of person who thinks Honeydew is the best melon, so I'm obviously wrong.

Ah. The old "Is Fox News evil or stupid?" debate.

It's not, unless his whole comment history is satire.

Icky upvote.
