I can’t double up on stars, so this is just instead of that: thanks for this! I don’t think he will get it, but at least your comment made me laugh and more hopeful for the human race in general!

I am so stoked for this!
Thanks for this fun historical exploration, Gita! Because it is such an organically random world, Dwarf Fortress is really an excellent way to get people interested in researching history and heritage.
All that is good in life starts with hope, my friend.
I’ll second that HOLY FUCKING SHIT and, since I don’t have to abide by the rules of good writing, I’ll add a couple of exclamation marks as cherries on top.
Thanks for this comment, Lewis! I just wanted to say I picked up your game and have really been enjoying the first few hours! I hope it will sell really well!
I don’t imagine you get to make much of these slippery politician calls, Jason, but it seems from the transcript it went really well. Did interviewing game industry representatives prepare you for something like this?
Also that last question! It’s great that, when you had an opening to expose the entanglement between…
I sure hope it is not culturally/environmentally relevant that the most popular games of this time are the ones where we end up collecting stuff we mostly don’t need and murdering each other in ever smaller bits of territory.
Fellow Dutch person here. Unfortunately not a single mention of our beautiful deltaworks in the game. while the ones depicted are clearly ours! Tongue in cheek, of course, but I still wonder why they aren’t in there as a wonder, especially considering we got two USA-made wonders (Panama and Golden Gate) out of a small…
Well... That sucks! This Week In is really my favourite Kotaku recurring feature and more or less the only conscious reason to go here in the weekends.
Hot/Adult Take well taken... I love open world games, but I end up buying less and less of them (and not spending more money on each of them) then ever since my teenage years (a good decade and a half ago).
Yep, it’s cool, but it is also very much in keeping with AC’s Western-perspective, trope-driven view of history (mind you that in itself is not always a bad thing).
About the second thing you will learn about the Greeks during your (European) education is that they had some different sexual norms than we had…
The real news here is that anyone makes good use of Vita remote play! Good for you!
Is Rotterdam part of the story or only a multiplayer map? Asking because that’s where I was born and my grandparents lived during the war.
“What Zatx said”.
For me the feature devil is in the details with games like this. Also, and this is just me being weird, I don’t really like using mods to add game mechanic or story features. Still, good to know I could pick up where I left off!
Great! Played this two and a half years ago and felt like it would be one of these "best when feature complete" early access games. Now to find some time in between all the other recent and upcoming releases.
The awkwardness displayed in the lead image is enough to strike “romancing” of my considerable AC:Oddity to do list.
One other insight that surprised me (I do research on the past in videogames, check interactivepasts.com if you’re curious), was their 30-seconds Google rule! If a historical aspect of AC needs more than 30 seconds of Googling to verify, the devs are free to make stuff up.
Well... There’s a grain of truth in every joke. I’ve had my chapter writing blocks, I have overscoped projects, and I have had code with cascading bugs. I am well aware of the ups and downs of creative production.
