    I think the situation is identical. There is a minority population of Europeans living in Japan - some of whom must be actors. There were no Europeans cast in the Japanese remake of Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven. Japanese people haven’t learnt to feel guilty for being Japanese yet.

    Would it be reasonable for a European actor living in Japan to complain about Japanese actors being cast in the Japanese remake of Unforgiven?

    All the people complaining about ‘white washing’ are the reason Trump was voted in. Unlike the anime this movie is targeted at Western audiences. So they choose someone popular with those audiences to make a profit.
