I don’t see the anti-capitalist aspect of it. If we remove private ownership of cars, then they will just be owned by large fleets who will rent them to us at whatever rate they collude to set. This sounds like a capitalist wet dream.

Good point about maintenance vs. repair. I read the data more from the perspective of total cost of ownership than reliability for that reason. Luxury cars cost more to maintain but that doesn’t mean they’re not reliable.
