She might have been better off going for a somewhat lower-level request like saying she won’t give interviews after a loss. I bet a lot of players who’ve been forced to talk to the press after humiliating losses would sympathize with that. Trying to avoid press altogether was flying too close to the sun as a goal.

This attempt to dissuade eating the prairie chicken has aroused my suspicions.  Is it actually the most delicious bird of all and it is going extinct beause of its amazing nutritional and medicinal properties?

It’s interesting that the Top Gun sequel trailer barely features Teller even though he presumably should be the second lead in the film as the son of Maverick’s dead best friend. I presume that Tom Cruise (maybe not an infinitely better actor but a much more charismatic one) will be outdoing Teller’s character again

I’m glad that the lab leak theory is being looked into. If proven true, it could/should have profound consequences in terms of how we should study disease and how to secure potentially extinction-level biological threats.

I get the symbolism that they are going for, but putting white, brown, black, and orange into a rainbow, plus too many shades of blue, make it look terrible on an aesthetic level.

It is odd that an overtly political song like “This Is America” could hit number one three years ago but there weren’t any hit political songs in 2020 (besides a Black Lives Matter-themed remix of Rockstar but that wasn’t in the original song).

As a Floridian, this bill is pretty shameful and there are a lot of disturbing aspects of it.  But I have to admit, the part about outlawing doxxing and putting out private information doesn’t sound that bad to me and could actually benefit all sides; take this recent story: https://www.dailydot.com/debug/daunte-wright

Not that I’m rooting for James Charles, but he seems like he could still be in a good place financially since he could probably either find a new cosmetics company to team with or just find a way to manufacture them himself. He may be kind of cancelled but that doesn’t mean he lacks fans to sell stuff to.

I always hated it when Jezebel would include stories about Courtney’s sham of a marriage when they were still underage. The stories ridiculed their terrible husband, of course, but showcasing Courtney and the photos Doug Stodden would put out still seemed sleazy and exploitative.

I’ve been watching a fair number of Chinese movies and TV shows lately. I’ve enjoyed some of them quite a bit but I’ve never thought of any one that Americans would embrace this in mass numbers if they had the chance. Granted, Chinese productions like The Untamed can find an enthusiastic Western cult audience, but

It is a bit on the icky side but it was probably said as a joke and Sean Lennon may well be a friend of his. Plus, given that his cute kid appearance aged into... quirky adult features and he has probably gotten a lot of ridicule for that, I can see why he would like a conventionally attractive kid.

As I sit outside enjoying an afternoon snack on my porch in Florida, eating outside seems pretty easy to me. Enjoy the March warmth, Chicago!

That’s a useful addendum, but they should still try to edit something together. The longer they stay off the air, the more likely the show will never recover and that will be bad for everyone, but especially for the person who tweeted on Vogt and Pinnamaneni, Eric Eddings, and explicitly said he didn’t want the show

Don Cheadle was so good in that movie as Denzel’s sketchy sidekick Mouse.  I think that was his film breakthrough too.  I doubt he’d be interested in reprising the role but hopefully they can find someone with a similar energy.

Some of those are films that HBO Max only had short-term rights to like the Alien and Die Hard films, which are likely going back to Disney/Fox for good (heading for Hulu, maybe?). And like Disney+ they had some past deals licensing some films that they have to stick to. Movies rarely leave Disney+ nowadays so I hope

I was hoping that HBO Max would be the rare streaming service interested in older films given their amazing collection of old Warners/MGM films.  And they do have a section dedicated to classics but there’s not a single film listed there that’s pre-1970!  It could be they don’t bother listing those, but what a shame

I teach at a college where a professor was fired a few years ago for an insensitive tweet. If free speech policy at the school saves her job, she should count herself as damn lucky. She will certainly cost her school money from some donors and since I’ve never heard of her school, I doubt they can afford it. All for a

Anne Bonny stories (Mary Read often gets neglected) can go in some weird areas.  I’ve read the Golgotha series by R.S. Belcher with Bonny as a member of a group of superpowered women warriors.

I want to make clear that I am 100% not opposed to this trend in any way, but it is remarkable how many YA/kids graphic novels and comics nowadays include LGBTQ characters and love stories. As an adult who enjoys reading kids/YA comics from time to time, things have definitely changed a lot since I was growing up!

I don’t care about Ice Age but the Nimona news is a real disappointment. There were scenes in that graphic novel that could have looked so great on screen! I do wonder if there will be a little controversy over its cancellation given that the book had a significant gay romantic subplot.
