There was a Flop House podcast interview this past week with Joel Church-Cooper about how stars feel about failed projects. Church-Cooper was trying to work with Garry Shandling in the last year of his life and mentioned that working on “What Planet Are You From?” was a traumatic experience for Shandling and that he

True, videos of sketches from SNL can very easily be found the next morning where you can enjoy the good stuff and ignore the bad.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone here is mourning the loss of those green beans. We don’t go to Popeyes for healthy food!

My marriage ended because of the abusive behavior of my husband when his mental illness was out of control.  I will always debate how much his cruelty and abuse during that time was caused by his illness.  But he still had to suffer the consequences of his actions, as this player does.  That said, I am kind of

It is weird that Netflix has made all these action/sometimes sci-fi movies with sometimes substantial budgets and solid actors and behind-the-screen talent and somehow they haven’t come out with a single one widely regarded as pretty good (The Old Guard has its fans but I found it rather dull). Netflix has made some

I’m not sure he would have wanted to be remembered for Gymkata but there are worse things to be remembered for. Rifftrax will be putting out a Gymkata commentary soon, as it was one of their Kickstarter stretch goals. May there be conveniently placed pommel horses and parallel bars in the afterlife for Mr. Thomas.

I think it will almost certainly be Helena Wayne. She is the only existing comics character who could fit in with the story and with Kate’s family, especially with the Hush/Bruce Wayne imposter having a big story coming up. If they do make Helena gay, it would likely stick in the comics too which would make the

True, I hope that the many who are protesting now will be willing to help out with the long-term needs of the communities in Minneapolis and some other cities where low-income communities will need help finding food, jobs, and basic resources in the wake of the destruction.  While I don’t condone looting, even if I

In a very stupid way, her tweets actually illustrate a conflict in the overall message about what the quarantine was supposed to accomplish. The initial message was that we had to “flatten the curve” and slow the rate of transmission to prevent overloading hospitals, but that wouldn’t necessarily lead to that many

Good points, though the interplay of Muslims and Hindus in India or between China and Japan is more of a issue now than the pretty much settled presence of Ottomans in Turkey. Still, proper care would put controversies to rest but it can be easier to fall back on the same old cultures that people don’t make too much

I like these ideas but some of them have big potential cultural hurdles that the devs probably don’t want to bother with. The Mughals? Better figure out how you’re going to sensitively portray the interplay of Islam, Hinduism, and Sikhism! Any Japanese or Chinese force? Better hope that the Chinese, Japanese, and Korea

I think the new cast really learned a lot as time went on and as some of them toured.  I saw one of the live shows - it was terrific. I think the new version could have gotten better and better over time.  It may yet survive as a show or in live form; in the meantime, I usually get my riffing fix with Rifftrax.

Besides the lesbian parts, there is actually some logic at work here in blaming “SJWs” and I say this as someone could be seen as a SJW myself. More moderate to liberal sites, including entertainment ones like Kotaku, do tend to be more open to media that plays around with conventional tropes. Political conservatives

Yes, there was clearly a lot more forethought put into this than some domestic violence incident gone wrong, especially as the first victims seems to have been his ex-wife and her current partner.

While I’m not sure how strong her grasp of reality is, I do feel a little more sympathy to anti-vaxxers who have a personal experience of an adverse reaction to a vaccine. Bad reactions, even disastrous ones, absolutely do happen and they shouldn’t just be ignored, even if vaccines are good on the whole. I had a

Given that I’m fortunate enough to have my two teaching jobs intact and have suffered no financial loss, I wouldn’t feel right about spending the dough on fun stuff. At the same time, who knows what the future could hold with things being as they are? So I’m giving at least 1/10th to charity and splitting the rest

Given that I’m fortunate enough to have my two teaching jobs intact and have suffered no financial loss, I wouldn’t

That photo doesn’t really show people acting irresponsibly. They all seem to be standing a decent distance from each other except for presumed family units and nobody is sitting. There are a number of arial pictures out there that confirm that people are keeping their distance.  There’s even some evidence now that

I feel like I should stand up for the Amiel’s Every Way videos because I love them - they are far and away my favorite ones on the channel.  I like both the basic tips given (for instance, his bacon video affirmed my method of making bacon via the microwave as legit) and the extreme/weird ways like steaming pizza.

I’m honestly not sure that the virus’ effects will be felt across the country. Deaths due to coronavirus haven’t exceeded 20,000 per country, even in China. There are experts predicting massive death counts but I’m not sure that’s going to transpire and certainly not all areas of the country will be impacted equally.

In that case, Florida, where I live, already has nothing to worry about.
