Honestly, 30% is a decent deal (higher would be nice too, of course), though how “moderate” income is defined can be tricky. With or without the Obama Center, if it is left up to the market, there won’t be any affordable housing in that area in the future.

A lot of comics best-ofs, including some that have been in the AV Club, lean too heavily on the indie/artistic comics and graphic novels and  neglect the quality mainstream comics.  This is a great mixture of the two and has given me some comics to look up.

I would like to see them do a Watchmen style series that is a distant sequel to the original. The press release mentioned they wanted a minority or trans actor (how did AV Club miss that detail?), so I could see the main character being both inspired and disgusted by Carrie’s legacy and developing their own powers

I know many would disagree, but I believe that voluntary prison labor for low payment is totally justifiable ethically. Putting a person in prison is very expensive (which is partly why there should be less people in prison, of course, but there will always be some) and prisoners are a drain on society. Why shouldn’t

Modern romance novels vary a lot in terms of how hot the sex is. Some have very explicit porn-like sex scenes, others vary from Collins-style steamy to just kissing. Romance can be quite diverse in its content.

I honestly think this is a shame because this could have been a really compelling series. Issues of art and gentrification are difficult to portray in TV but this story could have done it. I can’t tell the victims’ families what to think but this could have told their loved ones’ stories in a way that no other medium

He does look more like Denzel’s son than Denzel’s own actor son John David Washington does.

Everyone has their own cases of what they can and cannot justify. Here is some of my personal logic: 1. I would never purchase R. Kelly’s music as long as he can benefit from the sales. 2. Michael Jackson is dead so he can’t benefit from my purchasing his music. Any sales would go partly to his kids and they have

I had never really thought about the person behind the voice of Roxette, but I enjoyed learning about her life. She had hits in the group and solo in Europe through the 2000s. She was also first diagnosed with a brain tumor, her eventual cause of death, in 2002.

Oddly, the same reason Joker shows up on this list is the same reason it will probably get a Best Picture nomination. If enough people in a group consider it their number one best or worst, it will beat out a bunch of films that had more consensus as to their quality or lack thereof.

Saudi Arabia is awful for the reasons that you mentioned.  That said, whatever form of state would take their place if the Saud family fell would likely be a lot worse and even more destabilizing.  And stories like this kind of suggest that the current Saud ruler is moving away from the most conservative type of

I’d say about 20% at the moment.  It has got some mentions in critics awards and the Globes were fairly kind to it with two acting noms in addition to the Best Comedy nomination.

She has gotten a lot of critics awards over the last couple of weeks so I am hopeful that she could make the final cut at the Oscars, which are a lot more important than the Globes.

It couldn’t get a Globes nomination for Best Picture. Foreign language films are not permitted in that category. It will almost certainly get nominated for Best Film at the Oscars though.

Given that she was nominated in Supporting Actress on the film side and is thought to be an excellent contender to win in that category, I don’t think she’s too upset. The Supporting TV category is weird in the Globes because they throw in TV movies, miniseries and regular shows.  There are always people left out who

I’m sure there may be a piece on it later but it is weird that this site doesn’t mention the fact that no woman was nominated in Director (Greta Gerwig had a shot for Little Women) or Screenplay (The Farewell’s writer was expected in this category).  The same was true on the TV side too.

I actually think there is a valid point to be made that thin people can be out of shape too.  Obviously they went with an already skinny person because they didn’t have time to show someone losing weight over time, but just because you’re thin doesn’t mean you are fit.

Don’t forget Lady Stilt-Man - Spider-Man always needs more female villains.

This seems like odd timing but I did sorely miss the March Madness bracket last year (hope it comes back next year!), so this is at least making up for that a bit.
