If the DA didn't think he could secure indictment, he should never have convened a grand jury. The role of a prosecutor in front of a grand jury is not to allow the grand jury to sort through all the evidence and arrive at the truth - it's to secure an indictment.

Poor Jebediah.

Russians don't take a dump without a plan, son

Fleeing prosecution by going to another country with no intention of returning would fit the bill for 'abandonment.'

That's not how that works. There is a spousal privilege that would prevent the prosecution from compelling her to testify at his trial...unless she is also a defendant. A charge of aiding and abetting would do the trick.

As long as you're not using a copyrighted image (a la Shepard Fairy), you totally could make art depicting a public figure.

Boys, put they rulers away. They're all big.

We're fighting Assad's enemies, so I don't think he's that stupid.

Look on the bright side: the airbag worked!

My father had a late '70s Lincoln Continental. One day he was getting into it while it was parked on the street. A Honda Civic tried to pass too close while the Lincoln's door was still cracked open. The Civic had to have it's front bumper replaced. The Lincoln needed a few dents hammered out.

Nope, still crazy.

When I was driving a '03 PT Cruiser (Mom's car, and when your 17 you'll take anything with wheels) my friend thought it would be real funny to reach over and turn the car off when we were doing ~15 mph through the school parking lot. I think that he didn't realize it was in hold mode. They were coming in high so they switched from SPD to FLCH (flight change) and then turned FLCH off. Doing that engages HOLD; I think we can assume that the pilot thought that doing that would send the A/T back to SPD. Thinking it was maintaining the airspeed, he

We negotiate with terrorists all the time. But trite movie dialogue aside, these guys were not terrorists, they are Taliban. Since they were not going to be tried as terrorists, or be tried for war crimes, they would have to be released anyway once our conflict in Afghanistan was over. Isn't it better to let them go a

...or we just engineer planes to be extremely safe so that accidents almost never happen. That seems like the easier way.

It's probably easier to justify if your family owns the company. And a country.

You can whistle dixie all you want, but that neo-confederate version of history is bull. Southern politicians were so fearful of the idea of Lincoln as President - a man who never said he wanted total emancipation - that they turned traitor against the country they claimed to belong to. That was because slavery was

My dad had one too when I was young, but ours was light pink and outfitted with an 8-track player that hadn't worked since the '70s. Always took at least three tries to get her started.

Now playing

Not bad, but let's see him try to land with an asymmetrical gear failure:
