Oh my mom can be the epitome of passive-aggressive hints too. *Hugs* I hope you got the dress you wanted :)

I'd like to think she means well. When she's not surrounded by crazy people who say the dumbest shit, she's quite sweet and progressive. But when she's surrounded by cray-cray, she turns in to the same crazy over-dramatic people who think stuff that happens on daytime soaps is real. But as people age, they get set in

yea - i don't get the whole 'defer to the bride'. every choice that I had a say in also included my husband's opinion - including design of his outfit. We wanted a Indo-Western design that reflected both our cultures and I was super happy with how it turned out, except that the pants were too short because the tailors

so true.

there can be a difference between constructive feedback and just crushing someone's joy.

I totally agree with you. I had to admit I had a lot more latitude custom-designing my groom's outfit than my own. And I have to says his outfit looked far better than mine *sigh*

As I mentioned in a previous comment, my final wedding dress was too long because I didn't open my mouth at the right time. But my story isn't about the actual shopping of the said dress than the pre-shopping and the aftermath. My mother means well, but is always saying things that sound super passive-aggressive and

I concur.

Klassy.

There's nothing wrong with liking diamonds if you like diamonds and you have the money for it (without getting in to ridiculous debt). But I don't like the current societal pressure of "you can't spend your life together and be blissfully wed until you have a tiny object that makes most people bankrupt". And trust me,

Yep - that's the one!

Don't forget the glitter!

Bless that amazing sales lady - now that is great customer service.

That made me chuckle :)

True - I agree with you on that point. I still believe CZ is better bang for buck.

I second that.

Engagement jewelry is such a sham. I will admit laziness right now and say I couldn't be bothered to find the source article, but I read that rings (especially with stones on them) are artificially inflated to be the ridiculous prices they are now - and the reselling value is just awful.

I wish I could wear a sari properly - I always err on the side of wrapping it too tight like a mummy or like a bai. What I had was a gharara - so it was really hard to adjust as I had a serious case of camel toe with the skirt hiked up so high!

nice!

The day was super magical :)
